You will be working on your own, mostly in the computer lab or in the library.

Read at least two biographies of E. L. Konigsburg. Take notes about important events in the author's life, and fill in an internet timeline with at least five important events from her life.

Choose one other project to finish.

Read another book by E. L. Konigsburg. Write 2-3 paragraphs to compare and contrast a main character from that book with either Claudia or Jamie. Compare things like personality traits, what they like to eat, how they behave towards others, etc.

Research Michelangelo Buonarotti; find out about his life and his art. Write 2-3 paragraphs about what you have learned. Include several pictures of his works of art.

Use the encyclopedia, write for information or visit the web site to research information about the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Illustrate the inside of the museum. Label areas inside the museum that James and Claudia visited or used as hiding places. Trace their visit throughout the museum. Write a paragraph about the museum using some of the information you have researched. Visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art website.

Jamie accused Claudia of wanting too much. On page 120 he said, "You're never satisfied, Claudia. If you get all A's, you wonder where are the pluses. You start out running away, and you end up wanting to know everything. Wanting to be Joan of Arc, Clara Barton, and Florence Nightingale all in one." Choose one of these ladies to research. Write 2-3 paragraphs on why this person is a heroine and present it to your class.
